Planned Giving Opportunities
Bequests
You can make a gift of any amount to Holy Childhood through
your will. Your bequest can be made in the form of a stated
dollar amount, a stated percentage of your estate or specific
property. Your gift may either be unrestricted or restricted
for a specific use.
The correct name in making a bequest is: Rochester School
of the Holy Childhood
From Holy Childhood's point of view, unrestricted gifts
are preferable as they allow us flexibility in meeting the Agency's
financial needs. However, you may have a strong desire to support
a specific program or fund, such as the Holy Childhood Restricted
Scholarship Endowment Fund. If so, your bequest can be restricted
to that use.
Gifts of Life Insurance
There are a couple of simple ways to make life insurance gifts
that will give you tax benefits now and reduce your estate taxes
later.
By purchasing a life insurance policy and transferring the ownership
to Holy Childhood, the premium paid each year is tax deductible
and there is a limited time of payment. As owner of the policy,
Holy Childhood receives any policy dividends and the value of
the policy will be excluded from your estate thereby reducing
estate taxes.
Another way is to contribute an existing paid-up policy to Holy
Childhood and receive an income tax deduction for its value.
Gifts
of Real Estate and Personal Property
Real estate, artwork, jewelry, antiques and other tangible personal
property can be given to Holy Childhood. The benefit to you
is an immediate income tax deduction. The amount of the deduction
will vary and is based on the nature of the gift.
Stock and Appreciated Assets
Using appreciated stocks to make a gift can be a tax-efficient
way to help Holy Childhood. By giving the gift of appreciated
stocks, shares in a mutual fund or other types of appreciated
property, you can avoid the capital gains tax and a charitable
income tax deduction
Other:
The ideas listed here are just the beginning. There are literally
hundreds of ways to structure an estate to meet both financial
and philanthropic goals. If you would like more specific information
on various methods of planned giving, we would be pleased to
talk to you about it. Of course, you will want to consult with
your attorney or tax advisor to develop the estate plan that
best meets your needs. For example:

Remainder Trusts
- Charitable
