Transition & Skills Training Groups
The PWI Transition and Skills Training Groups provide extra support for individuals interested in moving into sheltered employment full-time. Individuals work on job related skills that emphasize appropriate communication, attention to task, work quality, work stamina, work rate, and gathering of work materials. These groups work on their skills both within School of the Holy Childhood and in the community. Individuals in these groups earn a paycheck by performing some paid work, provided by Partners With Industry.
A Food Service component works to develop the skills necessary to work in the bakery, as well as the skills to function more independently in a residential setting. The skills practiced include measuring of ingredients, use of utensils and small appliances, basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety, maintenance tasks, and personal hygiene.
